The Role

Reporting to the Assistant Director, you will get to use your well-rounded Workforce Planning skills to solve complex workforce management issues, provide consistent, relevant and timely advice; be creative and innovative; contribute to strategic planning; program management and policy development. Being a team player, having exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills are important attributes to be successful in these roles.
Under broad direction, you will achieve complex workforce management and planning work within an integrated workforce.
At the APS 6 level, you may lead a small team and set work priorities, manage workflows and have the privilege of building team capability through coaching, feedback and development opportunities.
About our Team
The Workforce Guidance and Plans Directorate operates within the newly established Workforce Design Branch in the Military Workforce Design Division.
The Directorate has the responsibility for managing several highly complex workforce-planning functions including the allocation and management of staffing resources for the Australian Defence Force.
We prepare briefing materials for Defence senior leadership and we contribute to parliamentary submissions on Workforce Planning matters.
Further, we are also responsible for conducting workforce affordability assessments for the Future-Integrated-Force and forecasting the staffing levels and achievements for the ADF.
In delivering these outcomes, we are the conduit between the Defence People Group and Defence Finance Groups as well as many other stakeholders in managing the highly complex Defence workforce.
Our primary goal is to help deliver an affordable, achievable, sustainable and integrated ADF workforce.
Our Ideal Candidate
To be successful in this role you will be a flexible team player who demonstrates strong communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to deliver quality products and work to timelines. You will demonstrate a history of being able to design and implement innovative solutions to help solve complex Workforce Planning problems whilst maintaining relationships and networks with a range of stakeholders including, but not limited to, the Defence People Group and Defence Finance Group. You will have experience with Microsoft Excel and enjoy creating, manipulating and analysing data, which will be used to share insights with and inform stakeholders, senior leaders and government. Experience in accounting and financial systems will be considered favourably but is not a pre requisite for the role.
