We are looking for an intuitive and passionate Workplace Health & Safety Manager who will oversee and maintain the company’s adherence to WHS Frameworks.
The Position
The Workplace Health & Safety Manager (WHS) oversees the Workplace Health & Safety frameworks within Bob & Pete’s. The WHS Manager is responsible for ensuring the required outcomes are achieved and maintained by overseeing the continuous implementation and operation of the Workplace Health & Safety Management System to all parts of the organisation. The role undertakes and directs complex and diverse audits, investigations and inspections within Bob & Pete’s and supports externally contracted providers to ensure compliance with the applicable regulations, processes and controls. The role actively engages and supports the Executive and Leaders, acting as focal point, enabling compliance with statutory WHS obligations and adherence to WHS Standards. This is achieved through the provision of corporate and operational support for WHS functions including training, advice, guidance and leadership support. The role is designed to effect safe work systems and continuous improvement across the business.

Key Responsibilities include:
- Develop, coordinate and maintain Workplace Health & Safety frameworks across the business;
- Continuation of the implementation of Workplace Health & Safety in the workplace in accordance with Bright Food Asia Pacific (BFAP) Group objectives;
- Provide safety and quality leadership, direction and guidance.
- Establish key relationships with key stakeholder to ensure WHS requirements are developed, implemented and reviewed on a regular basis;
- Proactively drive and deliver site establishment and continuous improvement of WHS culture and systems;
- Develop and implement the audit program for the respective Business Departments;
- Ensure the maintenance of Australian and other Standards (including international Standards) and how they interact with the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act and the WHS Regulations (the WHS laws), as well as approved Codes of Practice;
- Maintain internal policies and frameworks in line with legislative requirements;
- Report on health and safety statistics, coordinate and perform audits and deliver monthly reporting;
- Support the facilitation of investigations into safety related incidents; and
- Coaching of all employees in key Health and Safety matters such as Risk Management, Process documentation and controls, continuous improvement, Fitness for Work, Manual Handling and Safety Management Plans;
- Support the preparation and conduct of all external WH&S audits;
- Develop Safety Programs for the business;
- Lead and implement the organisation’s Return to Work program, supporting workers as they recover at work.
- Maintain current, extensive knowledge of relevant legislation and state-based requirements;
About you:
- Minimum of 8 Years work experience as a specialist in Workplace Health & Safety Systems, with at least 3 years at Management or Supervisor level.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding in WHS Legislation (Acts, Regulations and Codes of Practice), Risk Management;
- Ability to coordinate their application, maintenance and facilitate annual external audits against them;
- Strong communication and well-developed interpersonal skills;
- Knowledge and technical skills in risk management
- Experience the development and implementation of WHS systems;
- Leading the training and development of staff in a multi-cultural workplace;
- Work experience as an internal auditor or externally as a consultant.
- Organisational & time management capabilities with a focus on multitasking and reprioritising.
- Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.
- Positive attitude, proactive and shows initiative and works well under pressure.
- A can-do, team-focused attitude is essential for success.
