Hocking Constructions is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Workshop Manager/Trades Assistant to join their team in the construction of our company's unique building projects.
The successful applicant will be working with our friendly staff in a dynamic and ever-changing construction setting in many aspects on our one-of-a-kind, award winning custom homes. The role is flexible, ranging from managing our workshop, deliveries to and from multiple work sites and assisting various trades on site.
This position requires someone to work closely with the team to provide the required support to our staff and sites as required on a day to day basis. It will require the ability to manage multiple tasks across multiple sites. The successful candidate will have the ability to work both independently, and also work collaboratively with various team members and adapt to changing requirements.
This is a full time position 7.00 am to 3.30 pm Monday to Friday.
This will include but is not limited to the following.
- Carry out daily deliveries to and from site of materials and equipment as required
- Control of equipment location, cleaning and maintenance
- Manage site tidiness and general safety
- Manage workshop tidiness and safety
- Assist trades as required
- Carry out general labouring
- Manage site security and fencing
- To assist with site setups and setout
Experience:
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Assisting trades/working in a similar role
- Working in the building/construction industry
Competencies:
- Ability to work with limited supervision and also as an effective team member
- Ability to prioritise work and complete tasks in a timely manner
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Sound knowledge of safe working practices and procedures in a workshop and a site environment
- Working to a high standard in an efficient manner
The ideal candidate should have:
- A valid drivers licence & experience driving a light truck
- A white card
- The ability to work well in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organisation skills for workshop management
- Residential construction knowledge and understanding of quality practices
- Basic tools and PPE
- A passion for their job and working towards a goal
