About CatholicCare NT and the Program
CatholicCare NT is a Catholic social service agency established in the Diocese of Darwin. We provide services throughout the NT, including service centres in Darwin, Palmerston, Malak, Tiwi Islands, Daly River, Wadeye, Jabiru, Maningrida, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Santa Teresa, Titjikala, Finke and APY lands.
The Youth Enhanced Service (YES) provides a service to advance the extent and quality of care provided to young people at risk of. Or who are experiencing mental illness. YES is designed to increase service access to improve the chances of recovery and longer term social and emotional health and wellbeing. YES engages with young people, their family and carers to improve heir knowledge and understanding of local service options that provide the most appropriate supports. YES does this by providing assessment, casework and specialist mental health liaison and community education.
About the role
The YES Support Worker works directly with young people and their families to build goals and plans that support social and emotional wellbeing. They walk alongside families; helping them to reach these goals. They provide culturally appropriate, evidence-based support. The YES worker also facilitates group sessions that support the wellbeing of young people.
What we are looking for
Relevant certificate level qualification and tow years' experience in mental health, community services, youth work, case work or counselling.
Proven ability to engage with young people.
Strong communication skills including ability to run yarning groups and share knowledge for practice within a small team.
Knowledge of culture and protocols relevant to the Tennant Creek area.
