Youth Partnerships Officer

  • Permanent full-time, 35 hours per week
  • Salary from $97,692.09 to $105,742.58 per annum + 11% superannuation
  • 3.5% pay increase from July 2024

About the role:

In this position,you will Implement and champion the principles of community inclusion and participation, deliver projects and programs aligned with Council’s strategic objectives using these principles and Work collaboratively with the Executive Manager Community Life, the Coordinator, and the team to
ensure compliance with organisational direction and culture, executing Council’s functions regarding
Community Life.

In this position you will:

  • Implement youth-focused community inclusion and participation principles in line with Council's strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Manager of Community Life and team to ensure youth-centric compliance and execution of Council's functions.
  • Foster strategic partnerships with youth-oriented organisations and groups across the Local Government Area.
  • Support and enhance the capacity of youth groups and organisations to achieve positive outcomes for Campbelltown City's youth population.
  • Manage and apply for funding programs for youth sector development in collaboration with relevant agencies and the community.
  • Lead youth engagement activities, coordinate youth initiatives, projects, and programs for long-term positive impact.
  • Possess in-depth understanding of youth needs, trends, and challenges.
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication, project management, and problem-solving abilities tailored to youth initiatives.
  • Work independently, prioritise youth-focused tasks effectively, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including child safety legislation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders focused on youth development and empowerment.
  • Champion the implementation of the Youth Plan "Our Journey, Our Future 2024-2030" to ensure its success in addressing the needs and aspirations of young people in Campbelltown City.
  • Coordinate efforts to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the Youth Plan's initiatives, collating data and reporting back to the community on its progress and achievements.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in social sciences, community development, or related field.
  • Knowledge of Asset Based Community Development principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in community engagement techniques specific to youth development.
  • Possession of a current Class C driver's license.
  • Extensive work experience in youth activities and services.
  • Expertise in implementing Asset Based Community Development principles in youth-focused initiatives.
  • Experience executing youth development programs in diverse communities.
  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research techniques relevant to youth issues.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills tailored for engaging with young people.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online tools for youth program promotion.
  • High-level written communication abilities, especially in youth-focused contexts.
  • Strategic approach to delivering youth development outcomes.
  • Ability to develop high-level reports as a subject matter expert for Council and senior delegates.
  • Ability to implement and monitor funded youth projects or programs.
  • Effective time management and organisational skills in youth program coordination.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard hours as needed for youth events and activities.
  • Commitment to child safety and awareness of related legislation impacting youth services.
  • Knowledge of youth culture and issues affecting young people.
  • Experience organising youth activities and programs.
  • Possession of a current NSW Driver's License and First Aid Certificate.
