About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists to work as a key member of HNE Health Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services Leadership Team to lead the direction on improving health and reducing Drug and Alcohol related harms for Aboriginal people. This position is vital to the management and leadership of Aboriginal Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services (DACS), as well as engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders to provide care to Aboriginal people experiencing Drug and Alcohol related harms across HNE Health. In this role, you will provide management and cultural leadership to your colleagues. You will collaborate with internal and external services to identify Drug and Alcohol issues within Aboriginal communities, promote access to culturally appropriate referral pathways into Drug and Alcohol services and, work to design, develop and facilitate new service programs that benefit Aboriginal patients.

Reporting to the District Manager, Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services this position has the opportunity to access a broad range of learning and leadership development opportunities within HNELHD. The successful applicant will be connected with local Aboriginal staff networks and more broadly Drug and Alcohol networks internal and external to the LHD. Cultural supervision yarning is accessible for all Aboriginal staff and is provided by trained cultural supervisors and peers within HNE. Further peer support is provided from Drug & Alcohol Clinical Services Managers.

The successful applicant will be in a leadership role and will be a key component in empowering, supporting and developing the Aboriginal Drug and Alcohol workforce in a multidisciplinary team. This position location is negotiable with Tamworth being the preferred location, followed by either Newcastle or Taree.

About You

As the Aboriginal Manager of DACS, you will have effective communication skills and be able to work well within a multidisciplinary team. Your cultural knowledge, experience and practices will provide the ability to connect with and sustain relationships with Aboriginal peoples on a cultural level with the Aboriginal nations across the district.
