Job description

Location Profile

Lara Lake Primary School is located 15 km north of Geelong and 60 km south-west of Melbourne. The school is in a growing area and has an enrolment of 800 students in 2024.

The School Vision is `Creating a world class education where every child is literate, numerate, curious and caring.' The School Values are `Respect, Responsibility and Excellence'. Students, staff and the community uphold these values to make Lara Lake a great school. The school is constantly striving to improve, placing the needs of the students at the forefront.

Facilities are modern and bright, and buildings and features provide a safe and attractive learning environment which will continue to be of the highest standard. Significant capital works to add new buildings and refurbish others were recently completed. There is a synthetic all-weather oval and a gymnasium which includes a music room, a canteen and a full-size basketball court. The school runs an iPad program for all students in P-6 with access to shared school devices.

The school is proud of the staff mentoring program which has been established to ensure the school tone and robust culture is maintained during periods of change. Teachers operate in Professional Learning Communities where a culture of learning and improvement flourish. All teachers are viewed as learners and have equal responsibility for all students' learning.

The 2024 staff profile comprises 82 staff members, including a Principal, Business Manager, 2 Assistant Principals, 1 Leading Techer, 3 Learning Specialists, 45 Classroom and Specialist Teachers, 4 Administration staff, a school nurse, and 20 Educational Support staff. There are 36 classrooms.

The school has a strong reputation for quality curriculum programs and all staff have a deep understanding of the Victorian Curriculum. Classroom programs are offered alongside a comprehensive specialist program consisting of Visual Arts, Performing Arts/Music, STEM and Physical Education. There is a whole school focus on social/emotional learning through the implementation of `Play is The Way', a pro social program. This allows students to develop the necessary skills to problem solve, work independently, develop empathy and understand themselves and others. Lara Lake aims to develop outstanding citizens.

All employees are obliged to keep up to date with the requirements of mandatory reporting, become familiar with the relevant Child Safe policies, and uphold the professional characteristics of adults working with children (e.g. WWCC, VIT).

Applicants should submit a covering letter, CV, response to key selection criteria and the contact details of three referees.

If you require further information please email the principal Zane Moylan at ***********@education.vic.gov.au

Selection Criteria

SC1    Demonstrated experience and skills in the use of Cases21 to complete accounts receivable and payable processes.

SC2    Demonstrated experience and skills in the use of Compass and AIMS to support the roll of Accounts Payable/receivable.

SC3    Demonstrated capacity to support the administration team with first aid and reception assistance as required in a busy school office environment.

SC4    Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills.

Role

Attendance for this role is 4 or 5 days a week (30 - 38 hours negotiable).

Range 3 is distinguished by the introduction of management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional support services. The role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, operations or educational programs.

Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy.  Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.

The provision of business management responsibilities becomes a feature at range 3.  Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility.  Staff management issues will be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases.  Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice, although this will generally be confined to matters relating to the immediate work area, service provision or educational program and is unlikely to impact substantially on whole of school operations.

This is the minimum range for positions that carry a mandatory qualification requirement of not less than four years.  Professional student support positions become a feature at range 3 (e.g. therapists, psychologists) where standard professional services are delivered.  Professional support and guidance will be close at hand and deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor.  Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee's position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

Responsibilities
  • Finance position with main responsibilities being Accounts Payable and receivable, bank reconciliation, EOM using Cases 21
  • CompassPay receipting
  • Support office administration with phone and counter enquiries, first aid and other duties as directed.
Who May Apply
