Our client, a state government department located in Rockhampton, is seeking an Administration Officer to join their team on an initial 10-month contract, with full-time hours and an immediate start. With potential for extension and career development, this is a role not to be missed!

As the HR and WH&S Administrator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the department's HR and WH&S functions. This will include managing personnel files and records, coordinating recruitment and onboarding activities, and providing support to managers and employees on a range of HR and WH&S matters.
In this role, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to HR and WH&S, as well as to assist in the delivery of training and development programs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Undertake a range of administrative support activities including but not limited to timesheet and leave reconciliation, processing of HR documents, general recruitment, onboarding and offboarding support.
- Utilising your high level of attention to detail, you will assist with the production, review and analyzing of information and data, using Departmental information systems.
- Maintain registers and databases and generate information for reporting purposes.
- Assist with remote area work processes for field staff including daily call-in procedures and coordination of training courses.
- Triaging and prioritizing emails and actions through a shared email mailbox ensuring deadlines are achieved.
- Provide accurate and efficient administrative services through the use of various Microsoft software packages including email, internet, word processing, spread sheets and data input, whilst ensuring that day to day activities align with business operations.
- Provide efficient business –focused customer services and respond proactively to verbal and written enquiries, in an accurate and timely manner.
- Be accountable for achieving the key responsibilities of this position and ensure work complies with all relevant policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
- Contribute to improvement in business processes and practices.
- Undertake a variety of research and development activities and a variety of projects as directed by the Supervisor to support the improvement of business support practices, systems and processes.
- Participate as part of a team, undertake other duties as required contributing to the delivery of business service functions to the Forestry business group.
Key selection criteria:
- Strong Administration experience with ideally exposure to HR practices/duties.
- Minimum intermediate level ability in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint).
- Demonstrated self-organisational skills including the capability to understand and set priorities, and achieve results in an environment of high volumes workloads and tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of contemporary human resource management issues, including Workplace Health and safety issues, Equal Employment Opportunity and anti-discrimination will be highly regarded.
- Great interpersonal skills.
