The key duties of the position include
The Collection Branch collects today what will be important tomorrow. The Branch builds the collection in an efficient and automated way to enable the community to discover, learn, enjoy and create new knowledge. The Collection Branch is responsible for several core functions including selecting, acquiring, and describing collection material, managing rights in relation to collection material, and protecting the Library's collection through preventive and conservation treatments.
These roles undertake straightforward tasks that support the acquisition, description and accessibility of the National Library of Australia's collection. These roles may require you to undertake tasks relating to the processing of collection material including item or collection level description and enhancement for all collection formats.
Tasks may also include:
- Creating or updating descriptive and/or collection control metadata
- Labelling and housing collection items
- Processing new collection material, including unpacking and sorting mail
- Organising collection housing materials for donors and vendors.
