Our client is seeking to engage an APS4/5 Safe hand Mailroom Administration officer on a contract.
Location: Canberra, ACT
Contract Length: 12 months, with option to extend for 2x12 months
Security/Eligibility Requirement: Negative Vetting Level 2 Security Clearance
Requirement
Our client has a requirement for a Mailroom Administration officer The safe hand Mailroom Administration officer works within a team environment providing general assistance to the safe hand mailroom staff and its clients.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, label and weigh packages for international delivery.
- Register and receipt mail items.
- Load and unload mail trucks.
- Drive distances to deliver mail.
- Arrange pickup times with mail carriers.
- Provide shipping quotes, as required.
- Assist in the preparation of diplomatic courier travel documentation, like laissez-passer and manifests.
- General accounts payable duties, including preparing and emailing invoices, following up outstanding invoices.
- Possible travel to escort diplomatic bags containing classified and sensitive material between the Department and Australian diplomatic missions.

- Ability to sort incoming and outgoing mail as directed.
- Ability to pack and prepare mailroom bags for dispatch.
- Ability to receipt mailroom bags.
- Ability to learn basic operations of mailing equipment and software, phone systems, windows-based computers, and other software programs as necessary.
- Ability to lift and heavy bulky items.
- Ability to drive long-distances - up to 4 hours.
- Ability to work sometimes, long and irregular hours.
- Ability to demonstrate attention to detail to ensure travel documentation is accurate
- Ability to deal with stressful situations and different types of personalities in a calm manner
- Ability to effectively communicate to assist clients
- Including the ability to explain the services provided by the mailroom and/or requirements of officers when travelling with diplomatic mail.
