Job description

Working at Geoscience Australia

At Geoscience Australia, we are passionate about improving the lives of Australians by exploring our country’s rich and deep geological history to answer current and future geoscience challenges. Our understanding of this ancient continent builds on the knowledge of Country held by our nation’s original miners, mappers and navigators.

Within the Minerals, Energy and Groundwater ( MEG) Division, our diverse and high-performing teams acquire, analyse and deliver precompetitive data, information, tools and new thinking to support the sustainable development of Australia’s minerals, energy and groundwater resources. We provide authoritative and independent technical advice to the Australian Government and promote the responsible development of Australia’s natural resources, including enabling our technological and renewable energy future though Critical Minerals, green hydrogen, green metals and carbon-abatement strategies.

Within the Mineral Resources Advice and Promotion (MRAP) Section, we contribute to the Australian Critical Minerals Research & Development Hub, providing underpinning data and technical advice that supports government priorities and actions under Australia’s Critical Minerals Strategy, as well as supporting the Foreign Investment Review Board, AusTrade activities and the implementation of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act.
