OVERVIEW
Our Federal Government client is currently seeking an experienced Senior Governance Officer to join their team at the APS6 level. responsible for undertaking work that is moderately complex to complex and/or sensitive in nature, under limited direction, utilising expertise and knowledge within the areas of administrative management of secretariat support and committee coordination.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Assistant Director in the provision of Governance services to the agency to ensure the agency satisfies its legislative obligations under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and all related policy and guidelines.
- Provision of secretariat services to the key committees in the department’s governance framework including, quality review of papers submitted for each meeting, management of Action Registers and development of meeting minutes.
- Drafting of strategic reports and briefing papers on complex issues for presentation.
- Provide analysis on complex issues and contribute to the management, preparation and coordination of policy formulation and/or project management.
- Developing and supporting key internal and external relationships, including managing stakeholders to achieve work area and agency goals.
- Provide accurate specialist advice, guidance and reporting on team functional responsibilities.
- May be required to supervise a team to ensure high quality outputs, including the development of team members at lower classifications, building team capacity and encouraging career development.
- Strong secretariat/ governance experience
- Experience working in a fast-paced role within a government setting.
- Experience managing complex governance issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to interpret and articulate difficult concepts.
- Ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
