Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and review applications for compliance with legislative criteria using established procedures and systems.
- Administer elements of the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Act 2011 and associated legislative instruments to support the delivery of carbon abatement through vegetation methods and projects.
- Make decisions for approval on applications to register new projects, vary existing projects, and issue ACCUs (Australian Carbon Credit Units).
- Ensure compliance with scheme requirements through effective communication, outreach, and detection/response to non-compliance.
- Provide subject matter expertise and knowledge transfer for methods under the ACCU Scheme to internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities by regularly reviewing and critically analyzing assessment tools, processes, and forms. Proactively develop guidance and engage with scheme participants to streamline application processes and resolve issues.
- Experience using geospatial data software, such as ArcGIS Pro, will be highly regarded.
- Prior experience, qualifications, or understanding of legislation, regulation, policy, carbon accounting frameworks, economics, project management, financial assessment, or data analytics would be advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders effectively.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and concepts
