Randstad Canberra is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Procurement Officer to join our dynamic team for a 12 month Non ongoing or S26 opportunity within the Federal Government. This is a critical role that requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in procurement and contract management. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring our procurement processes are efficient, compliant, and deliver value for money.
Your new role
Lead and manage end-to-end procurement processes, including planning, tendering, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with organizational goals and government policies.
Provide expert advice and support on procurement and contract management to internal stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
Manage relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes.
Prepare and present procurement documentation, including business cases, procurement plans, and reports.
Conduct market analysis and stay informed about industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation and cost savings.
Mentor and support junior procurement staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
Who We're Looking For:
We are seeking a dynamic individual with a strong background in procurement and contract management. The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:
Proven experience in a similar procurement role within the government.
Strong understanding of the Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs) and other relevant legislation.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
High level of attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in procurement, supply chain management, business, or a related field are highly desirable.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you must be an Australian Citizen and have relevant experience in Government Department and / or in a similar position. You must have a minimum of an active Baseline clearance.
Successful candidates will be offered a 12 months Non-ongoing contract with possibility of an extension
Permanent employees are only insisted to apply for the role for a S26 transfer.
