The Role
We have an exceptional new opportunity for an experienced Assistant Accountant to play a key role in our Finance Operations Team to support the firms ongoing growth and success by ensuring accurate end to end accounting for multiple entities, including, GL reconciliations, general journals, prepayment management and accrual management all while delivering financial reports in a timely manner.
As the Assistant Accountant, you will be responsible for:
Month End – Month End Journals and reports
Taxation – BAS, Payroll Tax and other taxation matters
Accounts Receivable – Managing records in our practice management software
Accounts Payable – Manage bookkeeper and oversee weekly batch payments
Reconciliations – Bank Reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations
Practice Management Software administration and productivity reporting.
Reporting and Analysis
Assist and help in the Cash Flow Management process
Other tasks as directed by the Finance Manager
Our ideal candidate will…
Demonstrate exceptional organisational abilities, attention to detail, coupled with strong judgement skills for navigating complex financial scenarios. You will excel in problem-solving and analysis, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and thrive in meeting deadlines autonomously.
Skills and experience
Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) or similar undergraduate degree.
Professional certification (or working towards) – Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or equivalent.
Experience in a similar role working in a professional services firm (accounting, legal etc) - preferable but not a requirement
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, with exposure to Xero being advantageous.
