Maxitool PNG is looking for a Assistant Accountant to join their team in their Edmonton Office
Maxitool PNG AustraliaMaxitool PNG Australia are a Nth Qld owned and operated company who provide a variety of services to the Mining sector in Papua New Guinea including Fire Suppression sales & services and heavy equipment sales & services.
Located in Edmonton near Bentley Park, we have been operating for over 11 years and are currently going through a growth and expansion phase and have an opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join our small friendly team, working alongside one other payroll & finance officer.
This is a senior role which will see the successful candidate undertake payroll, accounting, reporting and general admin duties; you will display a high level of accuracy and professionalism and the ability to work autonomously. This position offers an opportunity for the right person to expand on their current skills & experience and grow their career into a more senior role with the company.
The key responsibilities of this position will include:
- Accurate set up of employee, client & supplier card files in MYOB
- Maintaining employee information in MYOB and other registers
- Processing of small fortnightly & monthly payroll for in country and ex-pat employees; including
- Checking timesheets to roster
- Accurate data entry of timesheets into MYOB
- Calculation of income tax deductions
- Managing employee entitlements, deductions and reimbursements
- Accounts Payable & Receivable functions; including
- Raising PO’s
- Invoicing clients in accordance with PO’s & work sheets
- Processing payment receipts
- Collection of outstanding invoices
- Accurate Data entry of A/P invoices including GST, account & job codes
- Monthly reconciliation of supplier statements
- Various compliance reporting including payroll tax, GST and PAYGW
- Completion of bank & credit card reconciliations, and other balance sheet accounts
- Monthly management reporting
- Assisting with visa applications
- General Office/Admin duties
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting (or working towards it)
- Highly organised with excellent time management skills
- Excellent knowledge of MYOB or similar software
- Fast & accurate data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy
- Prior experience in payroll and invoicing
- Prior experience in the A/P and A/R functions
- The ability to prioritise daily workflow according to the needs of the business
- Experience using MSO (particularly Excel) and similar software
- Exposure to cash flow management
- Fantastic communication skills, both verbal & written
- An engaging friendly & confident manner
- Outstanding customer service skills
- The ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- A high level of maturity and confidentiality
- A great team ethos
- Current Drivers Licence
- Prior experience in the Mining sector or working with PNG clients will be highly regarded although not essential
