The Royal Geelong Yacht Club (RGYC) is one of the premier Yacht Clubs in Australia with over 1,200 members, with a proud and longstanding history since 1859. Positioned in a prime location on the Geelong waterfront, RGYC is also currently undergoing substantial redevelopment due to the funding support of Governments, Council and the Club.
RGYC is home to an exciting and diverse calendar of major events including the annual Festival of the Sails, the biennial Wooden Boat Festival of Geelong and a variety of National and World sailing Championships. RGYC also prides itself on hosting an impressive array of functions throughout the year, including member services offerings, corporate and community events and private social functions as well as the day to day offerings of the café/bistro/bar.

About the role:
Due to exciting growth in the hospitality space at RGYC, we are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Bar Supervisor to join our hospitality team and assist in the deliver quality service for all RGYC hosted functions and events and day to day service of the café and club Bar. This role will report directly to the Venue Manager and will include a diverse and varied scope of tasks and responsibilities. Currently the Club’s café/bistro is open everyday from 9am – 3pm as well as dinner for our members and guests on Wednesday and Friday nights. The Club bar is open daily to members and guests. RGYC prides itself on providing an environment that promotes and fosters all team members to achieve a work/life balance.
The Role and responsibilities:
- Provide professional and polite service
- Ability to supervise a team & function
- Assist in beverage ordering when needed
- Responsible of locking and securing the Clubhouse
- Able to clean beer lines or willing to learn
- Taking orders via our POS system
- Washing glassware
- Pouring beers, mixing drinks & cocktails
- Sound wine knowledge
- Maintaining a clean and safe workplace.
- Ensure tables are cleared and cleaned.
- Can-do attitude and a positive approach is essential
- Excellent verbal and written communications
- Ability to work under pressure.
- A team player who is respectful of others and supports coworkers.
- Keen interest to develop your skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Bar staff will require a have a current RSA
- Demonstrated experience as an advantage.
- Sound knowledge FOH operations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
