About the position

This position is a fixed term, full-time contract position working in our Environmental Health and Statutory Building Branch until April 2025. A Building Surveyor provides timely and professional advice and guidance on building matters ensuring that development within the City is undertaken in accordance with relevant legislation and City policies.  This position needs to meet statutory approval timeframes whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and competence in the assessment of building related permit applications. 

To be successful in this role it would be preferable to hold a Building Surveyor Level 2 Certification or hold tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or equivalent.  Additionally, you will need to have demonstrated experience and expertise in checking permit applications for compliance and inspecting buildings or building works for compliance with a sound knowledge base in the associated legislation, regulations and permits.

Highly developed organisational, problem solving and interpersonal skills are required for success in the role.  As well as the proven ability to research, analyse and compile technical documentation is integral to deliver the required outputs of the role.
