What you'll be doing
The SCHN Burns Research Centre Research Manager works under direction of the Head of the Burns unit and Clinical Program Director and will be responsible for overseeing all clinical research projects undertaken by the staff of the Burns Unit.

The department complements its clinical work with active research and quality assurance programs. The department actively collaborates with other health disciplines in both clinical work and research activities.

The Research Manager will have the responsibility of assisting with the establishment, implementation and progress of clinical trials, as well as assisting scientific and clinical staff with the administration and management of current studies.

The Burns Research Managers' role is pivotal in providing leadership and coordination to all work undertaken by the clinical research team including ethics of submissions and quality assurance.

  1. Must have a tertiary qualification PhD or equivalent. Should have demonstrated previous experience in clinical sciences research management, preferably related to burns, injury and/or surgery
  2. Demonstrate detailed knowledge, experience and understanding of clinical trials and clinical research. Including knowledge of local and international regulatory requirements for clinical trials and clinical research.
  3. Successful track record in managing or coordinating clinical research in collaboration with other health disciplines.
  4. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal negotiation and delegation skills with motivational leadership attributes.
  5. Demonstrated abilities to set priorities establish and achieve good objectives.
  6. Demonstrated practical experience of clinical trial co-ordination, monitoring and familiarity with the clinical trial environment.
  7. Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret research data and direct research relevant to health outcomes.
  8. Demonstrated problem solving and strategic planning skills with the ability to design and implement appropriate departmental processes and systems to improve and maintain quality.
