The role:
Reporting into the Sales Manager, the Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for managing our existing base of outlets across both SA and NT, providing our members with business solutions and services, acting as the “face” of LMG. You will also be responsible for negotiating and executing strategic business objectives in relation to products and promotions, identifying local market opportunities and developing initiatives to drive sales and profitability.
There will be frequent travel regionally to member sites and to the NT, with multi-night stays to complete projects and provide support to members.
More specifically in this role you will:
- Be the member expert, share knowledge and understanding of member strategies and tactics.
- Provide guidance to members on effective marketing initiatives.
- Stay in regular contact with members regarding performance and opportunities, developing and maintaining positive, effective relationships.
- Develop and execute joint business plans for members.
- Deliver on ranging and promotional programs.
- Identify opportunities and develop initiatives to increase and retain members.
- Contribute to actively growing the profitability of the business through new member recruitment.
- Be available to travel to regional locations across SA and NT and spend multiple nights away.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- At least 2 years’ experience in an account management or Business Development role ideally within the retail liquor or FMCG industry.
- Knowledge of Category Management principles.
- Tertiary qualification in related field.
- Hold a full unrestricted driving licence.
- Hold a current RSA, or have the ability to obtain.
- Demonstrated understanding of Australian retail account management.
- Demonstrated ability to think commercially.
- Proven experience in building client relationships and influencing stakeholders.
- Strategic planning skills to develop initiatives and achieve targeted results.
- Ability to embrace technology and change.
