ParkBooker is a growing, venture backed start-up on a mission to change the Holiday & Caravan Park industry globally. We believe that Holiday Parks and their customers have been overlooked, and we’re here to make Holiday Parks as easy to discover and book as hotels. At this stage, ParkBooker is a content platform (check it out at parkbooker.com) that users visit to plan their trips and discover new destinations, but we will soon be making a massive step forward and allowing users to also book their trips on our platform. Think of us like Booking.com or Airbnb, but for Holiday & Caravan Parks.
Who are we looking for?
As one of our earliest hires, the Business Development Manager has the responsibility for managing the end-to-end process of targeting and signing Holiday Parks to the ParkBooker platform. You’ll report to and work closely with the Co-Founder and CEO, but be given a large amount of autonomy in your role. Beyond engaging with and signing our new park partners, you’ll be expected to make recommendations both on our Business Development strategy and processes, and contribute to conversations on broader business strategy. What will you be doing?
- End-To-End Sales: Running the end-to-end ‘sales’ process of signing parks to our marketplace. You’ll work from identifying target Holiday Parks through to outreach, nurturing and deal execution. Note this isn’t a traditional ‘sale’, Holiday Parks only pay a small commission for trips booked by customers on our platform.
- Customer Success and Retention: Once a Holiday Park is signed to the platform, you’ll work closely with them to ensure their ongoing success and that they stay retained and ideally are willing to promote the ParkBooker product.
- Relationship Building: Ongoing networking and relationship building with various industry stakeholders to build the ParkBooker reputation and source new opportunities.
- Strategic Planning: Work closely with the Founders to input into long term strategic planning, providing input based on your previous experience and exposure to Holiday Park owners and customers through the course of your role.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering with our product and marketing teams to share feedback that can contribute to new features and enhancements to the ParkBooker platform or assist in our marketing positioning, messaging and channel strategy.
- Travel: Our expectation is you’ll spend at least one week every two months visiting parks across Australia to assist with the sales process and build relationships.
What does your experience and skillset look like?
- Proven experience in a Business Development, sales or related role - ideally working with small to medium sized businesses. We’re open minded about what this is, so long as you can explain why you believe it’s relevant to our business and this role.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to people from varied backgrounds and in various roles, ranging from business owner/operators through to management of larger corporate accommodation chains.
- A self-starter who can operate independently and has strong time management skills.
- Whilst not essential, we’d love it if you have a passion for and/or experience in the travel or hospitality industry, particularly Holiday & Caravan Parks and regional tourism.
- Candidates must possess a valid Australian driving licence and be comfortable with driving up to 3-4 hours at a time.
