Why are we looking for a Business Development Manager?

Our current Head of Client Services is ready to retire after 11 years in the role, and has been generous enough to give us plenty of notice so we can find the right person to take over and make sure there’s time for a handover.

Great news for you though, he’s staying on for a few months to help you get set up for success.

The role title is Head of Client Services, but we decided to advertise it as a BDM because what you'll do is more like a BDM and includes consultative selling.

Who would be great in this role?

It goes without saying that you’ll have had plenty of experience in sales or Business Development.

🌟 You’ve got a sixth sense when it comes to people and find it easy to relate to anyone from the CEO to the cleaner and easily establish rapport. This has helped you to build and maintain relationships over the years and maintain great morale on your team even though you’ve got a reputation for running a tight ship.

🎯 You’re not just goal orientated, you're fixated on targets. This is true for you in your personal life as well as at work. To you there is no such thing as ‘try’, there is only do.

🧩 You love solving problems. You listen intently to understand what your clients' underlying problems really are and then get to work figuring out how to solve them because you get a real buzz out of being able to connect the dots in ways others can’t, and you genuinely enjoy being able to smooth the way forward for your clients.

♟️ You see the whole chessboard. You understand the context for every action you take on the overall success of the sale or the delivery of the solution and you can work effectively with a team who each have different roles.

💯 You’re very organised and are comfortable managing your own time to ensure deadlines are met.

➡️ You’re more of a Swiss army knife than a cog in a wheel and you genuinely enjoy being able to own an end-to-end process, with insights into the whole business rather than just operating in a silo.

💊 You've got experience working in pharmacy and / or are familiar with the pharmacy workflow and some of the industry specific challenges.

About the role

You’ll own sales for both South Australia and Queensland.

Working closely with the MD and with the support of the design and delivery teams, you’ll be responsible for meeting sales targets and maintaining client satisfaction.

You’ll have a small team of 2-3 reporting to you.

In a nutshell the Business Development Manager will be responsible for:

  • Establishing and maintaining client relationships

  • Creating proposals, pitching solutions and closing deals

  • Meeting personal sales targets and ensuring your team meet their targets

  • Liaising with the design and deliver teams to ensure projects are running smoothly

The sales strategy is already working well but part of your role will be to suggest improvements or make adjustments based on the results you’re getting.

👉 Our head office is in Burwood but this role can be fully remote if you’re based in QLD or SA.

A week in the life

Your average week will look something like this.

📱 💻 Phone calls and Teams calls with existing clients to check in or discuss ideas for improvements in their existing solutions.

🚗 Visiting potential clients in their pharmacies to meet in person and share product information.

💡 Consulting with new clients to understand their current challenges then working with the design team on the appropriate solution.

✅ Preparing the proposal and pitching it to the new client to close the deal.

🤝 Liaising with the design and delivery teams on progress of existing projects.

📥 Reporting on activity and results and discussing this with the MD.
