Who we are looking for
To support our long-term strategy, we are seeking to strengthen our sales team and are looking for a Business Development Manager - Welding Technology Solutions to drive portfolio growth across our Welding Technology range including mechanised solutions, power to the arc equipment, Lincoln and Miller product lines as well as other specialised products.
Reporting to the National Sales Manager and supported by our other product category specialists and strong operational teams, you will be an engineer or hold trade qualifications and have at least 10 years of experience in a senior sales and/or technical sales solutions role.
General Responsibilities
- Be responsible for growing our Welding Technology portfolio
- Grow existing opportunities and identify new opportunities by understanding customer challenges and goals and proposing suitable solutions.
- Identify cross-sell and upsell product lines outside the welding equipment portfolio in other solution streams.
- Continuously follow-up the opportunity pipeline with customers and internal stakeholders
- Create bespoke technical solutions and associated commercial models/pricing structures from our complete equipment range which outperform our competitor offerings.
- Provide technical expertise, engineering support and advice to our customers.
- Work with our customers to optimise their welding equipment processes
- Work with our welding product specialists and engineers to look for opportunities to mechanise our customers’ welding equipment processes.
- Conduct product demonstrations.
- Work with OEM partners and their engineering teams to design bespoke technical solutions for our customers.
- Prospect for and facilitate meetings with target customers to drive revenue across all product offerings.
- Development of tender submissions, quotation offers and close deals.
- Create handover packages and provide engineering assistance to our operations team for designed solutions.
- Work with our marketing team to visualise our offerings and communicate the value proposition of our engineered solutions.
- Work with our National Sales Manager to produce sales budgets and sales strategies.
Skills/Knowledge/Behaviours
Essential
- Strong negotiation and deal closing abilities.
- Well-developed existing relationships within key target industry sectors such as construction, mining, oil and gas and power
- Able to constructively manage performance and objectives.
- Ability to identify and manage risks and have a strong working understanding of relevant mining and construction standards with respect to welding products.
- Proven experience in managing complex project supply contracts incorporating welding and power generation products in the power, mining and construction industries.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
- Experience in delivering equipment support services to major projects and shutdowns.
- High energy, tenacious attitude, and a drive to succeed.
- An aptitude for technical and capital sales.
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to express complex solutions in clear language
- An ability to proactively see the opportunity to upsell, cross sell and sale of value adding products.
- Discipline to manage your own time and travel commitments
- Be comfortable using a computer including systems for reporting requirements as well as excel and office suite.
