About the role
We are looking for Butchers, Junior/Apprentice Butchers& Sales Experience Team members (FT, PT, CAS) to join our team across our locations in Sydney!
As our newest Retail Butcher, here are some key responsibilities and Duties:
Food Safety Program:
- Assist in managing accountability for Food Safety & Compliance to the Vic’s Premium Quality Meats Food Safety Program including all requirements of the Australian Food Standards Code and Local body regulations.
- Assist in driving consistency across the business in completion of tasks, required record sheets, monitoring forms at specified frequencies, and ensuring compliance for Food safety.
- Support with checking performance and evidence of cleaning, pest control, state of equipment & facilities, storage areas, cold chain management, staff hygiene, approved dress and processes such food handling, allergen management & food preparation.
Service & Sales:
- With a passion for food, this role will deliver a unique experience, connecting with customers to build a loyal customer base and drive sales.
- Share specialised skills and knowledge on food experience that offers consistent superior quality & genuine service.
- Assist in reviewing performance and customer feedback to maximise opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Advocate for Vic’s products and services.
People:
- Help foster an engaged team culture by celebrating individual and team milestones, successes, and learnings.
- Assist in supporting team members by providing guidance, advice and prompt resolution at times of issue escalation.
- Support the team to achieve sales and other key performance indicators.
- Keep customer & staff wellbeing at the forefront of decisions, and ensure all tasks are executed in line with WHS policies and procedures.
- Assist ensuring team presentation represents the brand and in line with standards.
Product:
- Assist to ensure food preparation and creation process; from intake to prep, are in line with presentation and food compliance standards.
- Ensure set up and presentation of product is executed to standard in order to maximise conversion and sales.
- Proactively manage wastage and spoilage with the sell and support teams to mitigate loss and execute stocktake counts as required.
- Liaise effectively with the head office team, escalating product opportunities, out of stock product & share feedback and ideas.
General:
- Act in accordance with Vic’s Premium Quality Meats Code of Ethics and organisational values.
- Comply with all Vic’s Premium Quality Meats policies and procedures, including, but not limited to Vic’s Premium Quality Meats Food Safety programme, WHS, and Harassment in the Workplace.
- Ensure compliance of Food, and licensing legislation.
- Other tasks/responsibilities as required.
As our newest Apprentice Butcher, here are some key responsibilities and Duties:
General:
- Assisting other butchers in completing their work;
- To assist in daily and ongoing cleaning and maintenance of the store, and to assist other butchering colleagues in the general cleaning and closing and opening the store at the end of the day.
- Methodically and accurately breaking, cutting and portioning of meat as indicated and directed by senior butchering staff or management.
- Weigh and assess all deliveries according to invoice received.
- Daily assessment of stock, particularly in so far as stock levels and stock aging is concerned so as to mitigate carry forwards and wastage respectively.
- Communicating any meat quality or specification issues to senior butchering staff or management;
- Adhere to the presentation and rotation of store merchandise according to store policy.
- Ensure merchandise is sold at the correct price, and that any errors or inconsistencies are reported. Notify the Managers of any orders that cannot be filled as requested by the customer.
- Contribute to a productive work environment and relationship with the Manager and team.
- Ensure knowledge is current on all merchandise and services at the Vic’s Meat Market store and refer any enquiries where appropriate to the Manager.
- To act in accordance with the Company’s Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), Workplace, Health & Safety and Quality Assurance programs and guidelines.
