Our staff support over 130 affiliated clubs and societies, we also staff an array of campus facilities including great bars, cafes, retail outlets, a fitness centre, physiotherapy and also student events, clubs and societies. Our Venues
The Terrace is an on-campus café and functions venue located in the heart of UTS. It is fully licensed and a go to for coffee and food on campus.
Aerial UTS Function Centre is an award-winning, premium events and catering service located in the heart of Sydney and run by ActivateUTS. With five dynamic meeting rooms, two terraces and an in-house bar, Aerial caters for events ranging from 20-person meetings to 450-person conference or ball. Aerial also provides full-service in-house catering services, including beverage packages in and around the UTS campus through an on-site commercial kitchen.
The Underground & The Loft are the go to ‘uni bars’ located on campus and home to student and external events ranging from 10 to 700+.
We have a fabulous opportunity for an experienced Café Manager to relaunch and run our soon-to-be-renovated, sustainability-focussed, busy Cafe at the heart of the UTS Campus
This hands-on role includes:
Providing excellent customer service to all our valued UTS community and public customers every day; training and leading your team to do so as well.
- Implementing new ideas, support Chef with menu ideas, and other exciting initiatives
- Work with marketing to generate promotional ideas and initiatives.
- Work with Group Operations Manager on developing and setting customer service and food presentation standards and operating models
- Work with the Chef on Café menu development and costing
- Managing and leading your team, the team roster and approving weekly hours and timesheet approvals aligned to budget
- P&F responsibility; ensuring the venue is meeting financial and budget targets, working with General Manager, Commercial on analysing results and setting KPIs.
About You
- Previous experience in cafe management
- Excellent customer service
- Experience in managing hospitality staff
- Works well as part of a team, and be an inspirational leader
- Can multitask with great time management.
- Awesome communication/interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A can-do, positive attitude
- Functional use of Microsoft suite and electronic POS
Qualifications:
- RSA
- Barista skills
- Current Food Safety Supervisor Crtificate
