About the Role
We have an exciting new opportunity for a full time Chef Manager to work at our 60 bed Residential Aged Care facility at Glenhaven. Carinya House is a warm and inviting home, with a great staff culture.
The Chef Manager plays a significant role in enhancing the overall quality of life for residents at Carinya House by providing well presented, appetizing and well-balanced meals and fostering a positive dining experience that contributes to the overall health and well-being of our residents. As the Chef Manager you will supervise the Catering team when on duty.
You will be responsible for:
- Meal Preparation: Responsible for designing the menus and preparing meals, ensuring that the meals are nutritious, appealing, and meet the specific dietary needs of individual residents.
- Special Diets: Accommodate special dietary requirements, such as texture-modified diets, to cater to the unique health conditions and preferences of our residents.
- Food Safety and Hygiene: Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene standards to prevent foodborne illnesses and maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.
- Quality Control: Monitor the quality of ingredients and finished dishes, ensuring that they meet high standards in taste, appearance, and portion sizes.
- Lead Kitchen Staff: Lead and work as part of a team in the kitchen, collaborating with other kitchen staff, to ensure efficient meal preparation and service.
- Working as an effective team leader by maintaining a positive attitude, respect, and communication with all members of the Catering team
Skills and Experience
- Certificate in Commercial Cookery or equivalent is essential
- Previous experience in a similar role (desired)
- Understanding of Aged Care and resident rights and responsibilities
- Budget Management
- Understanding of Food Audits
- Hotel/Restaurant experience desirable but not essential
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated ability to effectively liaise with stakeholders
- Effective time management and organisational skills
License/Certification
- Police check (Required)
- Driver License (Required)
- Immunization status – Covid 19
- Must have the right to work in Australia.
