Located in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia and covering an area of 3,368 square kilometres, just 180 kilometres from Perth and an easy 2-hour drive, the Shire of Wongan-Ballidu is one of the most progressive country towns in WA. It boasts impressive sporting and recreational facilities with a great mix of people and a real country lifestyle.

The Council is in search of a highly motivated, experienced and performance-focused Chief Executive Officer. As the Chief Executive Officer, you will have a strong sense of community and be required to maintain effective communication and relationships with Councillors, staff, community, and other stakeholders. You will also have a track record to carry out the statutory functions of a CEO, with effective organisation and community engagement skills.

To meet the challenges and opportunities of this role, you will require a sound background in Local Government with the ability to display strong leadership skills and a high level of strategic planning and knowledge of corporate management. Working closely with the Shire President and other Elected members, you will foster productive relationships with neighbouring Shires, the community and business community groups and government stakeholders at all levels.

This role will appeal to a candidate with proven leadership skills at a Senior or Executive level within a Local Government environment who is currently in a CEO position or someone looking to take the next step in their career. An understanding of the overall function, operations and adherence to the local government procedures and legislations.

Employment is offered under a performance-based contract of three to five years. An attractive remuneration package in the range of $136,023 to $213,356 per annum (including salary, super, private use of a fully maintained vehicle, utilities in accordance with SAT band 4) will be negotiated based on qualifications and experience.  In addition, Council will provide rent free executive housing plus reasonable relocation expenses.
