Indigo (formerly Independent Living Centre WA) is a national organisation with head office located in Perth. Our operations span the whole of Australia, with staff located in WA, NSW, and QLD. We are a leading provider of Assistive Technology (devices and equipment), home modifications, therapy, and professional education. Reporting to the CEO, this role is pivotal for both strategic vision and operational excellence and a key influencer in shaping the Organisation’s future direction. Financial oversight is a key aspect of the position, requiring the role to manage budgetary matters, resource allocation, and financial planning to ensure fiscal responsibility and sustainability. The position will serve as Chief Financial Officer and be an integral member of the Finance and Risk committee.

THE ROLE

The COO will provide strategic leadership which includes supporting the long-term financial sustainability and profitable business growth of the Organisation. This will be achieved through the provision of finance, digital services, people & culture, facilities management, business solutions, governance and risk management services across the Organisation and its affiliates, through a service level agreement arrangement.

With a diverse portfolio and a competent team of Senior Managers, the COO will provide strategic and operational leadership to Aged Care sub-streams (e.g. CHSP Programs – Allied Health, GEAT, Home Modifications, geat2GO), NED and Disability Services to ensure quality, viability, innovation, and growth in service delivery. Key to your success will be your ability to engage a diverse team on organisation strategy and deliver high impact customer service outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Finance operations, commercial activities, and risk functions to deliver effective financial reporting and commercial outcomes.
  • Contribute to the organisation's strategic objectives by advancing the strategic plan, identifying growth opportunities and operationalise strategic plans for sustainable development.
  • Oversee delivery of financial reporting to the Board, CEO, and organisational units.
  • Lead your management team to deliver on operational performance measures and work in partnership with the CEO and the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Ensure sound financial systems with robust internal controls and compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Lead the organisation with a customer and commercial mindset and contribute to business growth strategy through data-driven analysis and operational metrics.
  • Drive change, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

THE CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven track record as a COO, CFO, GM or similar senior executive leadership role
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial management skills including budgeting, modelling, compliance, and risk management with demonstrated success in driving operational efficiency.
  • Visionary leader with a reputation for building diverse capable teams and managing the workforce through change and transformation initiatives.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, influencing, and relationship skills including board and external key stakeholders.
  • Sound to advanced ICT skills including Microsoft Office products, risk registries and accounting packages.
  • Experience of working in the Not for Profit, Community or Health sector(s) (desirable)
  • Aged care, community sector and/or disability sector experience (desirable)
  • Degree qualification in Finance/Business or similar discipline and relevant post graduate studies (eg. CPA, CA, MBA desirable).
