Jewish Care Victoria, is a not-for-profit organisation and is one of the largest providers of disability, aged and community services for the Jewish Community in Victoria and has been servicing the community for 175 years. Our staff come from all cultural and religious backgrounds, and we provide cultural and spiritual training in the Jewish Ethos.
The Opportunity
We are now seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Disability Services and lead a team of dedicated Disability Support Workers by promoting person-centred active support to facilitate community inclusion in one of many programs. Our aim is to empower clients to make choices, achieve their goals and lead a rewarding life.
Key responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a supportive environment of inclusion and person centred active support
- Promote community integration in all aspects of a person’s life
- Demonstrate the ability to support individuals in a small group setting
- Support and facilitate client bookings, intake and assessment
- Empower clients to maximise personal decision-making opportunities
- Maintain effective interpersonal communication with staff and clients
- Liaise with relevant agencies/community resources, colleagues and families to ensure continuity of care and goals are met
- Commit to best practice principles by identifying and contributing to projects
- Implement Continuous Improvement in all aspects of service delivery
- Demonstrate leadership and provide skills development to disability support workers
- Support and empower vulnerable people to report and speak out against instances of abuse or potential abuse.
What you will need to succeed in this role:
- Certificate IV Community Services – Disability or recognised equivalent
- Substantial experience in the Disability Services with a focus on community engagement
- Ability to effectively manage work schedule, and to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office package
- Level 2 First Aid Certificate, Police Check, NDIS and Working with Children’s Check
