This exciting role
This newly created role supports our Operations portfolio which is the heart of our organisation! It involves demonstrating and communicating the Living My Way's values to foster inclusion, choice and control in all aspects of our services.
As the Clinical Advisor, you will be providing clinical oversight and supporting the Operations team undertake quality clinical assessments and reviews, provide education and training to enable the delivery of high quality individualised services and supports for Members, and to meet the NDIS Practice Standards and High Intensity Support Skills Descriptors.
The role contributes to the development of a positive culture and clinical excellence at Living My Way.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Service Planning Team in the screening of potential new members to determine if their needs are within the scope of services and supports provided by LMW.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with members, their families, other professionals and Living My Way employees involved in providing services and support to optimise Member health, wellbeing and achievement of goals.
- Provide clinical support and advice across all Living My Way services, assisting with problem solving to enable provision of safe and effective care and support to members.
- Assess competency and confidence of Support Worker in the provision of support, including high intensity daily personal activities.
- Undertake clinical assessments, planning and reviews of members' support requirements, including those with high intensity supports and complex care needs.
- Develop health management plans for members with high intensity supports and complex care needs in accordance with the scope of practice of a Registered Nurse.
- Review and approve Member Individual Support Plans.
- Support the implementation and evaluation of actions following member or employee incidents.
- Effective leadership, mentoring and management of direct reports.
- Promote a culture that values a safe and healthy workplace.
- Adhere to the Registered Nurse Standards for Practice, Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics.
- Promote and implement supported decision-making principles
- Service delivery and supervision requirements will require some out-of-hours work.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications Required:
Knowledge
- Knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and clinical support needs for people with various disabilities.
- A commitment to a person centred, inclusive approach that supports the independence, choice and rights of people living with disabilities.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the NDIS Practice Standards
Skills
- Clinical assessment, planning and evaluation skills for people with high intensity supports and complex care needs.
- Leadership and influencing skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills.
- Effective teamwork and relationship building skills.
Experience
- At least 3 years post registration experience.
- Experience working with people with high intensity supports and complex care needs including health assessment, care coordination, individual planning, implementation and review.
- Experience working in community-based settings.
- Experience in providing training and competency skills assessment of staff.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Current unrestricted Driver’s Licence.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children’s Check.
- First Aid certificate.
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment (desirable).
