What you'll be doingThe Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) Donation Specialist Nurse (DSN) is responsible for raising awareness of, and providing clinical and educational services on organ and tissue donation for all LHD medical, nursing and allied health staff.
The DSN will be actively involved in all relevant end of life conversations and the Family Donation Conversation (FDC), ensuring all elements of the Best Practice Guideline for offering organ and tissue donation are met, in particular, the collaborative approach.

The DSN is responsible for auditing deaths and organ donation referral practices across the LHD, as determined by the OTDS and the Australian Organ Donation and Transplantation Authority.

Applicants are encouraged to review the following information on Applying for a position within NSW Health at:.Selection Criteria * Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Registered Nurse by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and holds, or is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
- Current class C unrestricted driver’s license.
- Ability to work on call after hours and weekends at sites within the NSW Organ Donation Network across NSW.
- At least 5 years full time equivalent post registration nursing experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent current experience in a critical care field and a post registration qualification in critical care specialty.
- Commitment to champion, educate and lead other health professionals to improve organ and tissue donation rates and outcomes as part of a team.
- Proven clinical leadership skills in quality, research and/or education and demonstrated critical thinking capabilities.
