The Department of Health is seeking a motivated Nurse to join their team as a Clinical Nurse Educator in the Close Observation Unit at the Mersey Community Hospital
The role:
The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is accountable for applying nursing expertise and contemporary teaching and learning practice to implement education programs for nurses that align with the strategic priorities of Hospitals North West, respond to emerging clinical need and facilitates professional development for the nursing workforce. This role:
Leads safe and quality nursing care through the advancement of evidence-based nursing practice and patient-centred care in an area of clinical and professional speciality.
Applies high level professional and clinical expertise in collaboration with nursing, midwifery and multidisciplinary stakeholders to enact education and development strategies for nursing and midwifery practice and the Organisation.
Plans, assesses, implements and evaluates educational programs to ensure they align with the needs of the Organisation and nursing workforce.
Models commitments to the values of the nursing profession including open communication to build respectful relationships across the multidisciplinary team and has accountability, integrity, and contributes to positive workplace culture.
Works in accordance with the strategic direction of Hospitals North West and the Organisations Nursing and Midwifery Strategic Framework.
Please note - Previous Critical Care or Emergency Department experience will be highly regarded.

The team:
The Clinical Nurse Educator will join a dedicated nursing education team committed to strong partnerships - within the education team and with our clinical units, to deliver high quality education. We are committed to maintaining clinical competency within our domain of expertise, working with effectiveness and ongoing evaluation, and being accountable in both our leadership and our followership to achieve excellent team performance.
The Mersey Community Hospital provides emergency services, day surgery, subacute rehabilitation, palliative care and medical care. You will also work as part of the team to support mandatory training requirements for the whole service.
Details of Appointment
Fixed term, part time, day worker position working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as you are ready.
*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary: $111,506 - $118,336 pro rata, per annum + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging
Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service Agreement) 2023
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
Holds, or is currently working towards, postgraduate qualifications in education and/or clinical teaching and learning
Holds, or is currently working towards, postgraduate qualifications in the area of clinical/practice speciality as relevant to the position
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
Conviction checks in the following areas:

serious drug offences
crimes involving dishonesty
