The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Clinical Services Program Development Officer to provide a critical role within Corrections and Justice Services
This is an Aboriginal Prioritised position, a role for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, who will be given priority consideration as per the special measures provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.
About the Business Unit
Corrections Victoria is committed to reducing the over-representation of Aboriginal people in the criminal justice system, and to providing services that are culturally appropriate and responsive to the needs of Aboriginal offenders.
The Clinical Services Program Development Officer, WNLP is responsible for delivering and coordinating Clinical Services to WNLP residents, as part of the implementation of Which Way Together - a holistic model supporting residents ‘coming in', ‘working it out' and ‘going out'. The Clinical Services Program Development Officer, WNLP will contribute to the intake and assessment process for new referrals and arrivals to WNLP including conducting clinical assessments to identify offending behaviour treatment needs and provide expert advice, support, and training to members of the WNLP management team and staff, to support the case management and support of residents.
About the Role
Reporting to the WNLP manager, you will liaise with contracted service providers delivering clinical and/or offending behaviour interventions both at WNLP and off site. As the Clinical Services Program Development Officer will provide and coordinate culturally safe program activities and interventions to participants of the program and will also provide a transitional support role for participants leaving the program, who have ongoing supports needs in the community, through identification and referral to appropriate culturally safe, clinical supports beyond WNLP.
Some of your duties will include:
  • Deliver and coordinate a range of group based offending behaviour programs including offence specific and offence related interventions aimed at reducing risk of reoffending.
  • Lead the implementation of culturally responsive Clinical Services at WNLP
  • Inform the successful implementation of the Which Way Together Model including the development of relevant operating procedures

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Technical Expertise
  • A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal community and the issues impacting on it.
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with members of the Victorian Aboriginal Community.
  • Demonstrates understanding and/or practice of effective case management practices; proactively managing risk with more complex individuals
  • Demonstrated understanding and/or practice of modelling pro social behaviours and ability to motivate and influence individuals who are being case managed
Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification in psychology, social work, social sciences, behavioural sciences or a related field is desirable.
