ROLE SUMMARY
As a Commercial Contracts Manager, you will be a pivotal part of our dynamic commercial team, responsible for the management and negotiations of Commercial Contracts with both suppliers and customers. This role demands a keen understanding of our company's strategy, values, and goals, ensuring that all contracts align with these principles. The position requires proactive monitoring, compliance management, risk identification and mitigation, and a continuous drive for contract improvement. Collaboration with the legal team, leveraging technology solutions, data, and analytics, will be crucial to streamline processes and optimize contract management.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES / TASKS
Without limitation, your responsibilities and duties include each of the following:
- Lead the commercial contract pipeline and lifecycles across the commercial and distribution areas of the business for suppliers and customers with adherence to strict deadlines.
- Engage with suppliers and customers throughout the negotiation and contract handover stages of onboarding, offboarding, or any mid cycle variations needed.
- Ensure that all contracts align with the company's strategic objectives, values, and goals.
- Summarise and present each new contract and its key terms to all relevant internal stakeholders.
- Effectively communicate contract-related information to internal stakeholders, including any changes or emphasis of key terms.
- Proactively monitor and manage ongoing active contract compliance.
- Proactively manage secure contract document storage and version control with the relevant systems.
- Identify potential areas of non-compliance within active contracts and develop strategies for resolution.
- Identify and assess risks associated with Commercial Contracts to develop and implement strategies to mitigate and manage contractual risks.
- Implement a process of continuous contract improvement, identifying areas for optimization and efficiency gains which could include process or systems improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance contract management processes. This includes a close relationship with the commercial and legal teams.
- Leverage technology solutions to enhance contract management efficiency and customer experience.
- Utilize data and analytics to make informed decisions and minimize delays in contract processes.
- Facilitate discussions that include relevant managers to resolve any issues arising during the contract lifecycle.
- Advance contracts efficiency, speed, and conversion, identify gaps, achieve results, and set an example for others to follow by consistently demonstrating VIT values and leadership attributes.
- Other tasks as directed by the CEO and / or CRO.
REQUIREMENTS / KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- 3+ years of experience in similar role.
- Proven experience in commercial contract management, with a track record of successful contract management and negotiations valued at over $10m.
- Related tertiary qualification.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Tech savvy with advanced computer processing skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Kind and compassionate with a firm but fair approach.
- A good sense of humour and can bring an element of fun to the role.
- Excellent critical thinking skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and analytics for decision-making.
- Thrives under pressure.
Highly regarded:
- Demonstrated experience in negotiating and managing Commercial Contracts.
- Prior relatable experience and understanding in contract and commercial law.
- Medical / Pharmaceutical / Distribution background will be favored.
- Proven ability to identify and mitigate risks associated with contracts.
- Track record of implementing continuous improvement initiatives in contract management processes.
- Familiarity with contract management software and a willingness to adopt and leverage technology for process improvement.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey contract-related information to internal stakeholders.
