About Inland Rail
The Inland Rail Program is a 1600km rail infrastructure project stretching from Brisbane to Melbourne incorporating new and existing rail track. The program includes the upgrading of existing standard gauge track, the enhancement of existing standard gauge track to cater for double stacking and the construction of new standard gauge links comprising of viaducts, tunnels, rail track, crossings and bridges. About the opportunity
As the Commercial Manager, you will be a key member of the Inland Rail project team located in the Inland Rail Sydney office, supporting components of the program being delivered within regional New South Wales. You will be working within an established team of project management, engineering and commercial professionals and joining the project at an exciting time as it ramps up to major construction works.
The Commercial Manager will have responsibility for the effective management and administration of a number of project contracts, including the major works design and construct contract. You will lead a small team of contract administrators, ensuring the day to day administration of Project contracts is in accordance with established policies and procedures.
The Commercial Manager will provide commercial and contractual support and advice to the Project delivery team on contractual matters and commercial risks throughout the delivery of the project and will be required to work closely with Inland Rail's project delivery contractors throughout contract delivery.
About You
Inland Rail is seeking to recruit an experienced commercial professional who is able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of engineering and construction contracts and who has a minimum 10 years experience working within an infrastructure project delivery environment.
To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualifications in a related field such as business, commerce, engineering, project management, law or another relevant discipline.
- Ability to effectively manage contract administrators and collaborate effectively with internal project delivery and contractor teams.
- Clear and concise oral and written communications skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organisation, external party representatives and management.
- A sound understanding of the obligations under the relevant State Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Acts.
- A clear understanding of ethical practices and probity requirements within a large organisation.
- Developed skills in negotiation, influencing and problem solving.
- Be willing to travel to the project site on occasion and when required to meet with Contractors.
