About The Opportunity
Your role as aCommunity Development Officeris to develop and implement a range of strategies to ensure our community have access to information and services, and to facilitate active participation in various programs and activities for the whole community.
This role involves spearheading strategic planning for Community Development, fostering coordination between the community, Council, and organisations. Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to) identifying service gaps, securing funding, advocating for minority groups, and administering budgets to achieve outcomes aligned with the Community Development Strategy. The incumbent will also provide ongoing support, respond to community needs, and undertake additional tasks as requested by Management, contributing to the effective programming and coordination of services.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Community Development, Human Services, Social Work and/or behavioural/social sciences with a minimum of three years relevant industry experience or substantial experience.
- Current class 'C' drivers licence and Working with Children Blue Card
- Demonstrated experience in Community Development, working with disadvantaged persons, individual groups, youth and communities.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating activities in a regional/rural environment including the ability to attract, identify and source funding for, community projects, groups and organisations .
- Knowledge of and skills in social needs analysis, social planning and service development and to develop strategic responses to address identified needs
- Demonstrated experience with local and regional networks and government departments and knowledge of relevant government policy and funding programs
- Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage and prioritise a wide range of tasks with minimal supervision
- Well-developed interpersonal and customer service communication skills
- Live and uphold the Council's values, show initiative, and a 'can do' attitude towards work
