We are seeking an experienced Community Services Officer to deliver services through Co.As.It.’s neighbourhood centre service model funded by the Department of Treaty, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Communities and the Arts. The core activities of the Neighbourhood centre include linking people with formal and informal support, creating social connections and inclusion and integrating local community action.
The Community Services Officer will be responsible for ensuring the core activities of the program are achieved through the following key responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver projects, events and activities that promote social connections and inclusion, build skills, provide knowledge, promote personal and social development, promote physical well-being.
- Identify and respond to emergent needs of the local community with a priority on vulnerable individuals.
- Support individuals by providing information and assisting them to access formal and informal supports which respond to their needs.
- Facilitate workshops, social groups and information sessions.
- Complete administrative tasks and reports related to the role.
- Promote access to Co.As.It.’s neighbourhood centre’s services.
- Recruit volunteers to support the delivery of activities/projects.
About you:
- Qualifications in community development, Community Services, human services, social work or minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Have a passion for community work.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement community projects and events.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to community effectively.
- Problem solver
- Upbeat and self-motivated
- Flexible attitude to meet demands of the position
- Demonstrated ability to organise work priorities and manage time efficiently.
- Good computer literacy, confident and capability in using systems and Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to speak another language.
- Own vehicle and valid driver’s license
- Police Certificate issued by Australian Federal Police within the past three years
- COVID-19 vaccination
