We are a major player in the Life & Health reinsurance market in Australia and New Zealand and we have the benefit of being small and nimble but with the financial backing of one of the largest reinsurers in the world. We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Life & Health subsidiary in Sydney which plays a major part in the success of Hannover Re globally.
We are seeking a Compliance Officer to join our team on a 12-month maternity cover contract. The role reports directly to our Chief Risk and Compliance Officer.
Key Responsibilities
About the role
As a Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for the management of the Company's Compliance Program, including improvement, monitoring and reporting.
Your day may look a little like:
- Constantly reviewing and updating of Company compliance obligations
- Maintaining documentation of appropriate compliance measures
- Monitoring and reporting of compliance measures
- Undertaking regular reviews of the Compliance Framework with improvements implemented as deemed necessary
- Providing advice to the Board Risk Committee, Executive and Senior Management on compliance issues
- Maintaining the Compliance Register
- Assisting with the development of training in relation to compliance issues
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
You will need to have:
- Advanced level excel skills
- Undergraduate degree in arts, science or law is preferred
- Experience in legal and compliance roles in financial services
- Technical knowledge
- Statutory knowledge
- People and relationship management skills
- Strategic thinking capabilities
- Ability to liaise at Board and senior level
- Excellent organisation, attention to detail and ability to prioritise effectively
- Clear and effective communication, both written and verbal
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
