About this position
The Development Services team requires a Coordinator Building Services to lead the City’s Building Surveying activities. The Coordinator oversees the assessment of building permit applications and associated statutory processes and is supported by a dedicated professional team.
The role provides oversight of all team activities, including mentorship and support of team members, as well as facilitating the evolution of building assessment policy, procedures and associated actions.
The successful applicant must demonstrate key team leadership, innovation, and analytical skills, complemented by relevant qualifications in Building Surveying or a related field.
What we are looking for
To be successful you must be able to demonstrate:
- A high level of ability to lead and be accountable in the work environment by empowering, motivating, and developing people to achieve results.
- Substantial experience in delivering successful outcomes in a complex building permit assessment framework and associated statutory processes.
- Highly developed customer service skills, including the ability to negotiate and work positively with government, business and the general public.
- Highly organised time management skills with the capability to work autonomously to meet deadlines and prioritise competing demands.
Essential requirements
- Qualification as a Certified Building Service Practitioner under the Building Services Act 2011, and substantial relevant experience.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Current Police Clearance (less than three months old). Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but may be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.
