We are seeking a Building Services Coordinator to lead our Compliance Officers and Swimming Pool Inspectors in achieving effective and successful outcomes in line with relevant legislation, strategic objectives, and customer requirements.
As our Coordinator Building Compliance you will be responsible for:
- Providing comprehensive advice to other service areas of Council in relation to building issues in line with the City’s strategic objectives and to external stakeholders.
- Preparing site inspection reports to a high standard and representing the Council in relation to Building Compliance matters, as necessary.
- Responding to Councillor requests on specific development issues in an accurate and timely manner.
- Assisting in the preparation of the Divisional Business Plan.
- Attending State Administrative Tribunal and WA Magistrate Court, where required.
- Supervising, mentoring, and developing City Compliance Officers and Swimming Pool Inspectors within the Planning Directorate.
- Ensuring the effective and efficient performance of Building Services within the City of Melville to achieve strategic objectives.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Tertiary qualification in Building Surveying or equivalent.
- Building Surveyors Certificate of Registration Level 1 or 2.
- Current ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence.
- White Card.
- Extensive experience, expertise, and competence in Building Surveying with Local Government or as a private consultant Building Surveyor.
- Extensive experience and competency in the Building Construction Industry and in assessing and issuing building permits.
- Extensive experience and competency in managing appeals in the State Administrative Tribunal and prosecutions.
- Proven experience in supervision of staff.
