About the role:
The primary purpose of this role is to oversee statutory planning and compliance processes and work teams within the City.
Reporting to the Manager Planning Services you will provide support and advice to ensure strategic outcomes, organisational goals and objectives are achieved.
You will also be partnering with the Coordinator Planning Projects with the aim of creating an adaptable Department that can proactively respond to any tasks or challenges that arise.
You will have the opportunity to be involved in developing implementing and reviewing the strategies, policies, work practices and procedures of the Department to ensure they remain contemporary, sustainable and meet the needs of the organisation and community.
About you:
We are seeking a progressive planning professional with strong technical skills that wants to lead for the front. As such, in addition to your formal qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning and extensive planning experience you will have:
- Highly developed mentoring and leadership skills
- Demonstrable experience in policy formulation and implementation, subdivision and development control and Local Planning Schemes.
- Proven written communication and project management skills, including the ability to undertake research and write complex reports.
- The ability to exercise appropriate authority whilst acting in the best interests of the City, its Customers and the Community, meeting legislative and operational requirements.
