The key responsibilities for this position include:
Financial
- Minimise the working capital bind in the receivables by overseeing the debtors aged trial balance and ensuring overdue accounts are being promptly contacted and collected in accordance with credit policy.
- Achieve the above by maintaining a high collection ratio target as set by the business
- Develop and maintain open and close relationships with the major accounts in the portfolio. Maintain intensive hands on management of all aspects of accounts receivable management in relation to these accounts.
- Ensure that overdue targets are achieved in line with business expectations and targets set.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate customer credit limits through analysis of sales patterns and credit risk.
- Initiate applications for changes to credit limits or payment terms which exceed delegated authority.
- Proactively discuss and agree on payment terms compliance with customers.
- Monitor orders on credit hold; contact these customers in relation to release of these orders and compliance with payment terms. Manage the release of credit held orders in accordance with credit policy.
- Complete customer account reconciliations as required, to facilitate payment of accounts or meet customer expectations.
- Closely liaise with sales people regarding credit issues arising with customers
- Resolve customer queries in relation to credit control. Flag and record customer disputes relating to billing issues before referring to the appropriate area for resolution.
- Monitor and initiate follow up with the appropriate areas for the resolution of customer deductions and credit claims.
- Discuss delinquent accounts with the Credit Manager for approval to pass details on to the debt recovery area.
- Initiate receivables journals and adjustments as required.
- Be prepared to take on additional responsibilities as delegated from time to time by the Credit Manager or to assist other members of the team.
- Advise the Credit Manager of information which may significantly affect the incoming cash flow forecast on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
- Processing of payments received from customers through various channels incorporating accurate and timely allocation of payments to individual open items within each customer account.
- Preparation of banking details and the deposit of all cheques received on a daily basis.
- Review and investigation of unallocated customer payments.
- Undertake credit investigation of new account applications and verify completeness of all documentation.
- Prepare reports for management as directed.
People
- To work together as a team with all accounts receivable staff. To support others when required, and to participate and contribute in group discussions.
Customer Focus
- Develop professional and co-operative relationships with major customers in the portfolio of responsibility to facilitate management of the receivable in accordance with credit policy and minimise the working capital bind.
- Establish and maintain co-operative and open communication channels with sales and site staff in order to have clarity and consensus on credit issues affecting the customers.
- Maintain a good level of understanding of the customers industry in order to apply this knowledge into the credit decisions being made and anticipate where possible the requirements of the customer
- Maintain a professional approach when dealing with all customers, both internal and external.

- Minimum 5 years working in credit control with an in depth understanding of credit control processes and the importance of cash flow on company operations (desirable).
