Appointment Pool

Service Planning and Contracts is seeking to establish a pool of Data and Information Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2024 and up to the end of January 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within 2024, up to the end of January 2025.

The role and context:

Statewide Services provides the services and supports required by schools to enable student achievement, with a focus on those students and schools that need it most. It encompasses both school and system-facing service delivery. While it primarily exists to support schools, it also has an important system-facing role supporting strategy and policy development.

Service Delivery is the key interface with schools. Its purpose is to plan, coordinate and deliver targeted services that support schools and regions to improve student achievement.

The Service Planning and Coordination Directorate enables the delivery of an integrated service to support schools to improve student achievement and educational outcomes, accessing subject matter experts as required. It also coordinates the provision of system-wide ancillary services and programs that complement and support student achievement.

The Service Planning and Contracts branch is responsible for the commissioning, contract management and implementation of specific state and national strategic education programs delivered by third party providers. The branch also collects and collates Data and Information for corporate reporting and to support evidence-based decision making within Statewide Services’ Multi-Tiered System of Support model.

In this role, suitable applicants will provide recommendations and support in relation to changes to systems, processes, record keeping and policies and procedures to improve data quality. You will also provide technical and system advice in relation to compliance reporting protocols and procedures as well as liaise across Statewide Services and the Department in relation to data collection, analysis and associated reporting matters.

  1. Demonstrated proficiency in providing administrative services, including experience in technical systems and databases support, executive services and administering and reporting on systems.
  2. Demonstrated well developed research, conceptual and analytical skills, including experience in managing complex and/or sensitive data to identify trends and issues.
  3. Demonstrated well developed written communication skills and the ability to prepare correspondence, briefing notes and guidelines.

Eligibility and Training Requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
