Abbotsleigh requires a solutions-focussed database professional to join our dynamic and innovative IT team. The Technical Services Manager and the Database Officer, the DSM is primarily involved in the smooth running and accuracy of the database systems, data management, data reporting and associated applications/services of the School.
Resposibilities
- Manage and oversee the smooth running, accuracy and integrity of the central School Information System (SIS) – TASS and associated applications/services
- Coordinate and manage backups, updates, maintenance plans of the SIS and associated applications/services
- Management and coordination of imports, exports and translations (ETL) of data between systems such as; timetable, financial, academic, cocurricular, enrolments, Learning Management Systems, HRIS etc. with a focus on the use of modern API standards
- Liaise and manage relationships with key software companies in order to resolve issues, plan updates and investigate new opportunities
- Work collaboratively with all levels of management and all business units within the School including IT, Staff Services, Student Administration Office, Finance, Payroll, Cocurricular, Boarding, Development, Alumni and others
- Be proactive to Investigate, analyse and put forward new opportunities where existing processes could be improved by the better use of data software, improved data processes and service
- Provide project coordination and project ownership on new database initiatives. Actively engage with key staff and works collaboratively with team members to ensure projects are implemented effectively.
About you
- Minimum 5 years experience as a Microsoft SQL DBA or Database Manager
- Solid understanding of Relational Database Management Systems and experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience with one or more of the Microsoft SQL’s extension languages e.g. T-SQL
- Familiarity with Cloud based data and storage solutions such as Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Cosmos DB
- Ability to assess and implement API solutions and integrating systems via API’s
- Proficiency in Advanced Excel, SSIS, SSAS and Visual Studio
- Proven experience and knowledge in data standards and the effective application of these standards to working systems
- Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience in managing a School Information System (SIS) would be highly desirable
- Knowledge in the data and application management related to the K-12 educational context would be highly desirable. E.g. timetables, LMS, room bookings, excursions
