Lesmurdie Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a strategic and innovative leader in the position of Deputy Principal - Lower School. You will work alongside the Principal and Executive team to deliver on our vision, our CAREs values and priorities to deliver excellence for our students to thrive.
The Deputy Principal, Lower School, Year 7 - 9, will ideally be expected to provide excellence in educational leadership both in the school and the community, developing and promoting the strategic directions. The successful applicant should have excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills with students, parents and staff that embraces innovation and growth. Key areas of responsibility include working closely with staff to ensure the best pedagogical practice, personal, individual, and team performance and to enhance the learning growth of staff.
Lesmurdie SHS is a full Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) school - Year 7 - 12 and it will be the role of the successful applicant to organise and manage this program, as well as support teachers with digital platforms. Other responsibilities include orientation and transitions, Individual Pathway planning, academic reporting, student support and counselling, enrolments, policy development, performance and development of staff and strategic leadership of the Lower School team.
With the commitment and desire to create and sustain a student-centered learning environment built on strong relationships, you will identify and implement strategies to meet the diverse needs of students and their families including interventions for complex needs, and contemporary behavior management and wellbeing models in the lower school years. Highly developed digital literacy and innovation would also be desirable to this future focused role. Proven exemplary experience in transition models from primary to high school would be beneficial.
Extensive knowledge to lead whole school approaches to Lower School curriculum, data informed planning and design, information technologies including Compass and Connect and the proven ability to work collaboratively and be driven to learn and implement evidence-based strategies is desirable. A strong understanding of student achievement data to establish clear systems to track student data and substantiate all improvements in student achievement would be highly desirable.
A DoE endorsed Specialist Enrichment and Acceleration Program in Mathematics and Science (LEAP) is also a portfolio of responsibility. You will manage this program and actively lead in the development and improvements to ensure a rich curriculum for success is available as a pathway for students.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.
