Our Water Division is experiencing significant growth, presenting the opportunity for a Design Manager based in our Brisbane office. This position is crucial for providing technical expertise and lead technical teams to develop and deliver the most appropriate technical solution for key water and wastewater projects.
About the role:
You will plan, program and coordinate studies, investigation, design and construction management projects, as Team Leader or Project Technical Lead, to deliver the agreed outputs on budget, on time and to quality standards.
You will also develop strong working relationships with clients by delivering valuable business solutions and understanding the client’s business.
A day in the life of a Design Manager looks like:
- Coordinate all multi‐disciplinary activities and inputs by the technical team, including specialist inputs, to ensure an integrated technical solution.
- Focus on the development of our water and wastewater project delivery expertise, locally and across the ANZ business.
- Support our delivery teams during design and construction, acting in a senior leadership and management role on projects.
- Assist in the pursuit and proposal phase of key business development opportunities
- Undertake internal technical reviews and verification checks on all aspects of water and wastewater projects.
- Identify opportunities and develop high level relationships with our key utility clients and future water focused clients in line with Stantec business strategies.
- Contribute to proposal and bid development to support business development activities, including preparing proposal and ensuring that proposals are prepared to a high standard
- Leading engineering projects and managing internal engineering disciplines as well as subcontractors.
- Facilitating design coordination and review meetings with clients and stakeholders, including knowledge of engineering assurance processes and a systems approach to design reviews
- Prepare contract technical specifications, scope of works and technical schedules.
To be successful for this role you'll present:
- Tertiary Qualification in relevant Engineering field along with CPEng and RPEQ (or ability to obtain).
- Over 10-years civil or process mechanicalinfrastructure engineering experience – design and construction.
- Exceptional leadership abilities including managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
- Advanced knowledge of water and wastewater services and the delivery environment.
- Highly developed problem solving and negotiation skills to resolve disputes that arise
- Strong understanding of D&C or alternative delivery projects.
- Solid report writing with the ability to tell a compelling story.
