Job Description

The Role

We are seeking a talented Development Director to take a leadership role on Precinct projects as directed, including the Ballarat West Employment Zone, executing development strategies aligned with organisational and government objectives. As the Development Director, you will oversee financial viability, project management, stakeholder engagement, team leadership, and innovation initiatives.

Core Accountabilities

Financial Viability and Commercial Success:

  • Negotiate project outcomes with partners and government agencies.
  • Manage project inputs and budgets effectively.
  • Direct project staff, consultants, and contractors.

Project Management:

  • Coordinate project resources for successful delivery.
  • Implement prudent management practices.
  • Prepare and monitor detailed development programs and reports.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

  • Develop structured communication strategies.
  • Collaborate in community engagement and marketing efforts.

People Management and Team Leadership:

  • Promote corporate goals and values within the team.
  • Provide exemplary leadership and support.
  • Set vision, goals, and ensure personal development for team members.

Strategy and Innovation:

  • Lead continuous improvement and innovation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with senior management on strategic plans.
  • Set strategic development plans and assess business practices.
Desired Skills and Experience

About You

  • Tertiary degree or higher qualification in property, design, engineering, construction, planning, valuations, or related fields.
  • Extensive and broad ranging experience in the management of projects (desirable minimum of 10 - 12 years).
  • Extensive experience in the leadership of multidisciplinary teams including the development and performance of people and projects through all stages of the project life cycle.
  • Demonstrated experience in the effective planning and implementation of urban renewal projects
  • Technical experience in planning and development, infrastructure, property and commercial environments
  • Proven technical, financial, commercial, risk and contract management expertise and demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication, consultation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate issues and provide effective solutions at senior levels within the public or private sectors.
