We are looking for a Development Extension Officer to join our client - State Government in South Johnstone. This is a temporary full-time position until January 2025, with the possibility of extension.As our Development Extension Officer, you will support various research projects. Your duties will include:
- Selecting sites for trials, Designing and setting up trial fields and Implementing trials.
- Collecting and processing soil and plant samples.
- Collecting and recording data from the field and lab.
- Calibrating planters, fertilizer applicators, and spray rigs.
- Identifying weeds, pests and diseases.
- Working with project leaders and team members on research and development projects,
- Evaluating the Soil Post Legume Nitrogen Application Tool (SPLAT).
- Demonstrating the benefits of reduced tillage and controlled traffic in sugar farming.
- Improving productivity and profitability of grain legume rotations.
- Have an Australian Bachelor's degree or higher in agricultural science, applied science, rural science, or a related field.
- Hold a current ‘C’ class driver’s license.
- Hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Commercial Operator's License for herbicide application.
