Good Shepherd Lodge LTD is currently seeking an experienced Learningand Development Officer to join their team on a permanent basis. An educator plays a vital role in the Good Shepherd Lodge team by combining their expertise and training skills to train and educate new staff, current nursing staff and residents. You must possess good communication skills, be honest, reliable, hardworking and have pride in the quality of your work.

The duties of this role include:

  • Training and Facilitation: Designing, developing, and delivering educational programs for new and existing members of all teams including all aspects of orientation and induction, creating lesson plans, presentations, and facilitating training sessions.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborating with the Learning and Development Manager to develop and update the curriculum based on industry standards and best practice. 
  • Clinical Instruction: Providing guidance and supervision to nursing students during clinical placements. This involves overseeing their personal care activities, offering feedback, and ensuring adherence to professional standards and ethical guidelines.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Assessing the knowledge, skills, and competencies of members of all teams, evaluating their effectiveness and making recommendations for improvement. 
  • Mentorship and Support: Serving as a mentor and resource for members of all teams, offering guidance, advice, and support.
  • Continuing Education: Facilitating continuing education opportunities for experienced nurses to enhance their skills, stay updated on new developments in healthcare, and maintain professional licensure and certification requirements.
  • Resident Education: Developing and implementing resident educational materials, resources, and programs to empower residents and their families with the knowledge and skills to manage their health conditions, medications, and treatments effectively.
  • Professional Development: Keeping up to date with current trends, innovations, and advancements in aged care and health education, healthcare delivery, and technology through participation in professional development activities, conferences, and networking events.
  • Accreditation:  Assisting with maintenance of compliance under each of the standards, ensuring that all those with responsibility for compliance have regular updates.

The Learning and Development Officer plays a multifaceted role in fostering the growth and Development of nursing professionals and others in our team ensuring high standards of resident care and contributing to exceeding compliance with legislation and standards.

To be considered for this role, you will have: 

  • Minimum of (3) years in a similar role
  • Tertiary qualifications Learning and Development or relevant work experience
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment with demonstrated performance in training delivery
  • Bachelor of Nursing beneficial
  • Ability to apply adult learning principles for the development, application, and evaluation of workplace training.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Excellent oral and written skills to support clear and accurate communication with internal stakeholders.
  • Good computer skills, in particular, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Time management skills with the ability to prioritise.
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • National Police Check or ability to obtain
  • Current Covid and Flu vaccinations (essential)
  • Previous experience in the Aged Care Sector beneficial but not essential
