About the position

The Community Development Officer Youth position provides high level engagement to build the capacity of young people, families, youth sector and the wider community through consultation, independent research, development and delivery of a range of Community Development projects.  The position works to foster collaboration, best practice and strategic planning across the Toowoomba Region to achieve positive outcomes for young people’s health, social and economic wellbeing.

The position directs and manages established programs such as the Youth Leaders Program and identifies, develops and delivers new regional youth projects in partnership with external stakeholders and sector networks.  The position defines strategic and operational outcomes including development, delivery and evaluation of Council’s Youth Strategy.

This position will work under general direction.

  • The salary range for this position is $33,753.36 - $35,188.08 gross per annum, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.
  • This is a Temporary Part time position based in the Toowoomba CBD.
  • The successful applicant will work 14.5 hours / week, on either Monday and Tuesday, or Thursday and Friday.  Work hours will need to be flexible to fit around programming, and will also include some weekend work.
  • This position is temporary until 27 July 2025.
  • CBD Parking provided.
  • Employee Assistance Program – free 24 hour nationwide confidential counselling services for employees and their families going through personal or work-related problems.
